ROADS on the outskirts of Harpenden had to be shut off overnight last night (Thursday), following reports of a gas leak.
National Grid were called out to Cravells Road at 7.15pm and the police also attended to cordon off large parts of the area as a precaution.
Herts Highways were later called out by the police to assist with the road closures and diversions at Cravells Road, St Albans Road and Walkers Road.
The gas board had completed a temporary repair by 8.25pm and the roads remained closed overnight whilst final repairs were carried out. They were eventually reopened at 7am this morning (Friday), however road surface repairs are currently taking place on Cravells Road and are expected to be completed between 4pm and 5pm.
A spokesperson for National Grid said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience our repairs have caused.”
