An author, broadcaster and market gardener is coming to St Albans to talk about gardening vegetables without needing to dig.

Charles Dowding will appear as a guest speaker of the Sandridge Road Allotment Association to talk about ‘no dig’ vegetable gardening, both at home and on allotments.

He has appeared on The Beechgrove Garden on BBC2 and on Gardeners World with Monty Don, and is the author of several gardening books. He has travelled throughout the UK giving talks on no dig methodology.

Martyn Astley, from Sandridge Road Allotment Association, said: “No dig vegetable gardening has really caught on because busy people can spend less time weeding and limit how much digging they need to do.”

The talk will take place at Bernards Heath Junior School at 11.30am on Saturday, June 9, with doors opening at 11am. Tickets cost £6, including refreshments, and are available by emailing events@sraa.org.uk.
