A gang of six or seven youths have assaulted pedestrians by throwing stones at them in St Albans.

Herts police are investigating two linked incidents on September 2 - rocks were lobbed at a jogger on the Alban Way at 6.15pm and then a dog walker in Highfield Park, near the YMCA gym and the Spar, at 7.45pm.

In the later incident, the victim dropped his iPhone 8 Plus trying to take a picture of the offenders, who then stole it and made off towards Hixberry Lane.

St Albans East Safer Neighbourhood Team PCSO Lena Bhogaita said: “It is important we identify these boys so no one else is assaulted.

“If you are offered an iPhone 8 Plus phone for sale, please get in touch.”

In both incidents some of the thugs were on bikes. The group were described as white and between 15 and 17.

One of the boys had curly or wavy brown hair, was of slim build and wearing a light coloured t-shirt and jeans.

A second boy was wearing a hoodie and patterned scarf covering his face.

Anyone with information about these incidents should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The reference for the first incident is ISR 602 of September 2 and 41/33195/18 for the second incident.
