THOUSANDS of visitors spent a warm summer's evening browsing the annual Classics on the Common event on Harpenden Common. More than 1,300 classic cars and motorbikes were on display at the event, now in its 15th year, which is run at no charge to spectators.

It attracts entries from all over the UK and some make the trip from the Continent to take part.

All proceeds from the event are donated to charity and good causes and this year's main recipients will be Keech Cottage Children's Hospice, Trinity Hospice in London and Townsend School in St Albans.
