VISITORS to St Albans city centre last Saturday may have been approached with an unusual request - pose for a photograph with a special purple balloon.

The initiative is the brainwave of district Rotary Clubs, and is the first stage in a new awareness campaign aimed at tackling one of the world's most devastating diseases.

But rather than reveal their hand straight away, those crafty Rotarians want to raise interest in their cause through a stealth campaign, so expect to see a lot more purple in the weeks to come, prior to the big reveal on February 21.

There will be full coverage in the Herts Advertiser, so keep reading to find out more about this campaign.
