FUTURE visitors to Roman Verulamium could end up taking a bath if a vision of the future of St Albans becomes a reality.

An exhibition of the City Vision project, which looks at the most desirable way for St Albans to develop over the next 10 to 20 years, opens tomorrow (Saturday) at the Town Hall.

Among the ideas featured is the reconstruction of the ancient city of Verulamium complete with fully-functioning Roman bathing complex near the Hypocaust in the park.

The exhibition also covers:

Employment and Training - with the emphasis on making the city more recession proof by becoming more self-contained.

Traffic Congestion - the major concern for residents and solutions include more walking and cycling routes, better bus provision and park-and-ride facilities.

Shops and Services - includes a food store in the city centre and interesting experiences such as a night-time market.

Homes and Community - more mixed housing to enable residents to live in the city centre throughout their lives.

Culture and Leisure - the Civic Centre site to become a cultural hub with a long-awaited cinema.

Opportunity Sites - Drovers Way and the Civic Centre are seen as prime opportunities in the future development of the city.

The public exhibition runs from tomorrow to April 4 (not March 22, 28 or 29) from 10am to 4pm (until 8pm on march 24 and 31).
