Lanterns were released into the air at a park to celebrate what would have been the 17th birthday of a popular teenager who died after a serious car crash in St Albans.
Scores of people attended a special ceremony on Wednesday, October 28, where lanterns were let off from Longacres in St Albans in memory of Harley Tobias.
The teenager died at the age of 16 in St Mary’s Hospital, London, on Thursday October 22, less than a week before his 17th birthday, following a car crash in Marshal’s Drive.
Among those attending the ceremony was family friend Cheryl Swanston, who said that people shared stories about Harley while his favourite songs were played.
She said members of his devastated family also attended the event.
The teenager’s funeral is being held tomorrow (Friday) and will be attended by family and close friends.
Friends of Harley have spoken to the Herts Advertiser about his mum, Eve’s, wish for an evergreen tree to be planted and a plaque to be installed on the grass verge at Marshal’s Drive, in memory of her son.
