The victim of an assault at a St Albans nightclub has spoken out about the impact of her ordeal as police make a new appeal for witnesses and information.
The 20-year-old woman was approached by a man at Batchwood Hall nightclub at around 1.30am on Sunday, November 1, who touched her on the bottom.
She pushed him away but later he came back and struck her with a bottle, causing a deep laceration to her head resulting in her being taken to Watford General Hospital for treatment.
The victim, whose identity is being protected, said: “This attack has changed my life forever; everyday I look in the mirror and when I see the scar it reminds me of that awful night.
“I’m always looking over my shoulder and often suffer from panic attacks. I feel unsafe and anxious when I go out now and I can’t enjoy a normal outing with my friends any more. I still suffer physically and emotionally to this day.”
Detectives investigating the assault are re-appealing for witnesses and information and have released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak with as part of their enquiries.
Det Con James Kier, investigating, said: “Although this nasty and unprovoked assault occurred a while ago it has had both a physical and emotional impact on the victim and we are still seeking the person responsible.
“We believe the men pictured may have some information about the incident that could greatly assist our investigation. If you recognise either man, please contact me.
“Equally, we know there were a number of people in the club around the time of the incident and I’d like to hear from anyone who remembers seeing what happened, believe they know the identity of the offender or has any other information that could assist my investigation.”
