Chaos City Comics manager Luke Ridge prepares for free comic book day

Stacks of free comics are being given away on Saturday as part of an annual event to promote the art form.

Chaos City Comics in Heritage Place, St Albans, is taking part in this year’s Free Comic Book Day from 10am until 5.30pm.

Now in its 14th year, FCBD aims to reach out to individuals unfamiliar with the comic book specialty market, not to mention their local comic book shop, by giving away special promotional issues of comics from a variety of publishers, covering different age groups and genres ranging from superheroes to comedy.

Goodies up for grabs include comics featuring Doctor Who, The Simpsons, Transformers, The Avengers, SpongeBob Squarepants, Sonic the Hedgehog and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as tie-in issues for major crossover events from both DC and Marvel Comics - Divergence and Secret Wars.
