Stacks of free comics are being given away tomorrow (Saturday May 7) as part of an annual event to promote the art form.

Chaos City Comics in Heritage Place, St Albans, is taking part in this year’s Free Comic Book Day from 10am until 5.30pm.

Now in its 15th year, FCBD aims to reach out to individuals unfamiliar with the comic book specialty market, not to mention their local comic book shop, by giving away special promotional issues of comics from a variety of publishers, covering different age groups and genres ranging from superheroes to comedy.

Goodies up for grabs include comics featuring Doctor Who, The Simpsons, Captain America, SpongeBob Squarepants, Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokemon, as well as tie-in issues for major crossover events from both DC and Marvel Comics - Rebirth and Civil War II.

Manager Luke Ridge said: “This FCBD is the biggest to date, we’ll have 50 odd titles to choose from for all ages, including previews of DC and Marvels big summer events. The queue will be big so the earlier you get to us the more chance of getting something great.”
