Three teenagers were among four people charged with burglary and possession of an imitation firearm, following an alleged burglary in Harpenden.

Four men were taken into custody last Friday (29) following a police chase through the town, accompanied by a police helicopter, which ended when an Audi crashed into a hedgerow on Station Road, at the junction with Coldharbour Lane.

A spokeswoman for Herts Police said that officers went to a property on West Common Way in Harpenden at 12.50pm following reports of an alleged burglary.

Those appearing in Hatfield Remand court Court on Monday (1) were:

• Aaron Poynter, 28, from High Street South in Dunstable, who has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft of motor vehicle, burglary with intent and possession of an imitation firearm.

• Francie Cawley, 18, of Stanbridge Road, Great Billington, Beds, has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft of motor vehicle, burglary with intent and possession of an imitation firearm.

• A 17-year-old boy of no fixed address has been charged with burglary, theft of motor vehicle, burglary with intent and possession of an imitation firearm.

• A 17-year-old boy of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft of motor vehicle, burglary with intent and possession of an imitation firearm.

All four were remanded in custody to appear before Luton Magistrates’ Court on March 1.
