Former St Albans school pupil dies in road collision

AN 18 year old, who died following a road collision near St Albans last week, has been named in Twitter tributes as a former Townsend School pupil.
Craig Burns, a student at West Herts College, died after being in collision with a Citroen C3 on Wednesday afternoon (February 15).
Emergency services were called to the A4147 Hemel Hempstead Road, at its junction with Appspond and Beechtree Lane, just before 5pm.
Ambulance crews from Hertford and Hemel Hempstead attended, alongside Doctor David Gaunt from Watford General Hospital.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with the boy’s family at this tragic time.
“On arrival the boy was found in a critical condition and after everyone’s best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
A Facebook page has since been set up in Craig’s memory (http://www.facebook.com/pages/RIP-Craig-Burns/332864453423850) and tributes have been flooding in on Twitter.
Investigations are still continuing and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact PC Andrew Carter via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101.
