An apparently irate footballer’s mother who allegedly refused to leave Arsenal’s training grounds in London Colney has been issued with a police warning.

There have been numerous reports in the national press about the mum of teenage academy graduate Ainsley Maitland-Niles, a talented forward at the club.

Mail Online said last week that Jules Niles had a confrontation with Arsenal’s chief negotiator Dick Law and the club’s facilities chief in March, during a meeting about her son.

And The Telegraph claimed that Arsenal had banned the 17-year-old’s mother from returning to the Gunners’ training grounds in Bell Lane.

It said that, in a separate incident late last month, she allegedly threatened to drag her son off the pitch during an under-21s game against Aston Villa.

However in the comments section of that paper’s article, a woman claiming to be “Ms Niles” disputes that claim, saying she has not been warned against visiting Arsenal’s training grounds, and that the story is “boring” as she has not been banned by the club.

She added: “I will continue to raise and support my son throughout his career and no one can stop that.”

A spokesman for Herts Police said that officers recently attended two incidents at the local grounds.

They were called at 4.11pm on March 20 following reports that two people had allegedly been assaulted by a woman. They suffered superficial injuries.

A 36-year-old woman from Watford was arrested on suspicion of assault.

The spokesman added: “She has since been released with no further action to be taken against her.”

However, officers were again called to Arsenal’s grounds at 2.40pm on Friday, April 24, after receiving reports that a woman was refusing to leave the premises.

The spokesman said: “Officers attended and the woman was issued with a warning.”

He would not provide further details.

An Arsenal spokesman refused to comment on the matter.
