A SECTION of Harpenden Common was recently blighted with a pile of empty wooden pallets and pipes which were discovered dumped in a paddock area south of Limbrick Road.
John Bagshaw, town clerk of Harpenden town council, said he had been “disappointed” at learning of the fly-tipping at the beauty spot.
However following a complaint from a resident, the council had tracked down the source of the dumped material and it has since been removed.
John added: “It came from a local building project. We have resolved the matter and it will not happen again.”
A local resident for over 30 years, who did not want to be named, said it was the first time in three decades of walking over the Common that he had seen fly-tipping in that area.
