Flower school opens in St Albans

A St Albans florist is launching its own flower school after expanding premises this week.

Flower Box, set up in 2014 at a unit in High Street, has now taken over the two units next door and is setting up a floristry workshop which begins in June.

The school is kicking off with Pink Gin & Peonies workshop as Peonies are the most popular flower in their florist and are only in season in May and June. Future themes include creating hat boxes with flowers in and floral crown-making.

Owner Zoe Lafbery said: "When I set up my florist five years ago I always dreamed of the day I would open up a flower school. We are looking forward to getting to meet some people who have a love of flowers, who can explore a new passion and make their own arrangements."

Amy Marland, co-owner of the school, added: "All people need to bring to our workshop is a sense of curiosity and a camera."
