A COMBINATION of flooding and roadworks is causing chaos on the roads across the St Albans district this morning (Tuesday).

A lane closure was in place along the A414 towards Hatfield and there has been severe flooding in both Colney Heath and London Colney.

That resulted in traffic stacking up all the way along the A414 back to the Park Street roundabout, which left drivers trying to find alternative routes in and around the city.

London Road and the Highfield Park estate were left badly affected as drivers attempted to avoid the traffic on the dual carriageway.

Trains from St Albans, Harpenden and Radlett stations were also disrupted by the overnight rain and subsequent flooding.
