FLOODED roads and pavements are in store for Herts as the snow starts to thaw.
Following a slight increase in temperature, the snow in the country is expected to melt over the coming days but Herts County Council (HCC) has warned motorists and pedestrians that it could lead to both flooding and extremely icy conditions.
Executive member for highways and transport Stuart Pile said that the change in weather could spell trouble: "We're not out of the woods yet. We're concerned that low temperatures overnight will lead to exceptionally icy conditions on roads and pavements."
HCC plans to continue salt runs over the weekend and will time them carefully so that the salt does not get washed away by the rain.
