AN apparently healthy 56-year-old man died suddenly of heart failure, an inquest heard today (Thursday).
Treffrey Thompson, of Townsend Drive, St Albans, went into cardiac arrest in the early hours of November 26 and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital despite attempts by his wife and paramedics to revive him.
A post mortem revealed no significant evidence of any disease or changes to his heart and an expert at the Royal Brompton Hospital was asked to investigate. Despite further thorough tests, the pathologist could find no clear reason for Mr Thompson’s death and concluded that the cause of death was sudden adult death syndrome.
Deputy coroner Graham Danbury recorded that he died from natural causes, namely sudden adult death syndrome.
