FIREFIGHTERS used snow to put out a car fire in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday) morning.
The crew from St Albans had been called to Toulmin Drive just before 2am after a car was dumped and set alight on the playing fields.
But they were unable to reach the red Renault Megane with their fire engine because of the snow so they got out their shovels and piled the snow onto the fire instead, putting it out within half-an-hour.
Toulmin Drive has become a hotspot for cars being dumped and set alight in recent years.
Police are investigating the incident but the car cannot be removed safely until the snow has cleared.
