FIREFIGHTERS were called to separate blazes in the kitchens of two properties last week.

The first call came in at around 7.30pm on Wednesday night and two crews from St Albans went to the scene in the first-floor flat in Penny Croft, St Albans. One person was involved in the incident but was uninjured.

Just before 11pm on Thursday night, firefighters were called to another kitchen fire, thought to be started by a grill, in a flat in Ladies Grove.

Two people were alerted by a fire alarm and were uninjured.

n Firefighters cut a woman free from her car on Monday morning after she crashed into a parked vehicle. The accident happened at around 8.30am in Milton Road, Harpenden, and firefighters used cutting equipment to get the 24-year-old driver out of her Fiat Punto car.

The woman, from Harpenden, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hemel Hempstead Hospital by paramedics.
