FIREFIGHTERS were called to a petrol station forecourt yesterday (Thursday) afternoon after a car's fuel tank split.
Fuel was spilling out over the Sainsbury's site in Barnet Road, London Colney, at around 5.15pm and it was closed immediately.
Fire crews from St Albans attended the scene and used their environmental spill kit to soak up the petrol as well as trying to stop the leak by putting some putty into the fuel tank, which the driver had just filled up.
The firefighters then awaited the arrival of a petrol specialist to deal with the incident before leaving the scene.
