Firefighters from St Albans were called to Trumpington Drive, St Albans, at around 11am yesterday (Sunday) after flames were seen coming from a chimney belonging to a property along the road.

The occupier was out so they had to break down the door of the house.

The firefighters quickly put out the blaze and removed all of the coal from the open fire below the chimney. They also fitted free smoke alarms as the property didn't have any.
