Firefighters extinguish abandoned caravan blaze in St Albans

PUBLISHED: 07:38 11 April 2017

Firefighters rushed to extinguish an abandoned caravan which was alight in St Albans last night (April 10).

Crews from Potters bar and Borehamwood were called at about 10pm to Caledon Road, London Colney, because the St Albans crew were busy at a job elsewhere.

By the time the firefighters got to the scene, it had been ablaze for at most 15 minutes, but was so destroyed that the cause of the fire cannot be pinpointed.

It was put out using a hose reel within 10 minutes.

Recently we, as a family (minus two of the kids), visited The Lodge RSPB reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire. I had never been before, which is perhaps amiss of me as a birdwatcher as it is the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or RSPB and only 45 minutes drive from home.
