Firecrews battle house fire

A BLAZE at a derelict house in Wheathampstead on Tuesday (December 30) took firefighters over four hours to extinguish. Six fire engines rushed to the house in King Edward Place opposite The Bull pub at around 6pm and did not leave until just after 10.30

A BLAZE at a derelict house in Wheathampstead on Tuesday (December 30) took firefighters over four hours to extinguish.

Six fire engines rushed to the house in King Edward Place opposite The Bull pub at around 6pm and did not leave until just after 10.30pm. The fire, which originated in the building's roof cavity, caused some damage to the first floor, although nobody was injured.
