A BLAZE was started in a derelict building on Saturday afternoon.

Four crews of firefighters were called to the incident in Pegrum Drive, Napsbury Park, at around 5.30pm and remained on the scene until 9.30pm.

The blaze broke out in the roof of the building which measures around 18 metres by 30 metres and caused extensive damage.

The fire is being treated as suspicious and a fire investigation has revealed that the blaze was started deliberately.

The matter is now in the hands of the police, who are appealing for witnesses and information about the fire.

A spokesperson said that one or more culprits are believed to have gained entry to the building and started a fire by unknown means.
