PUPILS were evacuated from a secondary school in Harpenden this morning, Monday, after a fire was discovered in a cupboard at about 11am.
The small fire was extinguished at St George’s School, Sun Lane.
A spokeswoman for the school said that all students had been evacuated safely, and the fire was swiftly put out by the fire service. There have been no injuries.
She added: “The school’s evacuation procedure worked wonderfully, and we are all OK.”
Herts police and the fire service are now investigating the cause of the fire, which took place in a cupboard in a communal stairwell.
