THE work of an up-and-coming film producer which was shot exclusively in St Albans, is being screened at two American film festivals.
Christopher Dundon, aged 25, of Sherwood Avenue, had his short film Somewhere Anywhere shown at the Independent Digital Film Festival of California in February.
And he has now learnt that it has been picked to be screened at the Maryland Film Festival in Baltimore USA.
Christopher is now looking forward to travelling to Baltimore to make meet film producers in the hope that they will commission him to do a longer film.
Ex-Sandringham School pupil Christopher shot Somewhere Anywhere in the Verulamium, Jersey Farm, and Marshalswick areas of St Albans, during August last year.
He chose to film in the city because he knew it very well and it featured some very attractive locations.
Even without a big budget, Christopher was still able to use some high-quality equipment after borrowing a £5,000 digital camera from a friend, and a jib arm and tracking dolly from Ealing Film Studios.
He explained that the story captured a day in the life of two teenagers who escape their problems at home by hanging out on the streets with friends.
But the duo realise they cannot get away from their troubles after making a shocking discovery.
Christopher said it took a lot of hard work to make the film but the news that it would be screened made it all worthwhile.
He is planning a career in film but pointed out that even with qualifications, it was very hard for someone who was not established to get work commissioned because producers had to be convinced that the film was a cast-iron moneymaker.
