AN INTERNAL investigation is under way after several passengers were left stranded on a faulty First Capital Connect (FCC) train this morning (Tuesday).

Shortly before 7.45am a problem was discovered with the doors of the 07.34 St Albans to Bromley South service at Radlett station.

The train was taken out of service and ran on to Cricklewood sidings where it was discovered that approximately 20-25 passengers were still stuck on board.

Several passengers took to Twitter to voice their frustrations at not being given time to get off the train.

One commuter, whose girlfriend was one of those stuck on the train, even tweeted FCC to let them know what was happening.

@rob_levine said: “URGENT: 7.34 S/bnd from St Albans. Taken out of service at Radlett. STILL HAS PASSENGERS ON! Driver didn’t give time to get off!”

@lauraoakley81 tweeted: “[The driver] came through the door and looked shocked that there were about 40 of us in two carriages looking at him.”

Once they had been discovered, the passengers had to be escorted from the driver’s cab and over a designated track crossing point to reach the adjacent platform at Cricklewood station.

A spokesperson for FCC said: “At no point were any of the passengers on board in danger, however, we would like to apologise sincerely to those involved. There are procedures in place to ensure trains are evacuated before being moved and an internal investigation is under way.”
