A FAULTY electrical heater is thought to have been responsible for a fire which broke out this morning (Wednesday) at a St Albans company.

Two fire crews from St Albans were called to Stephen Webster Plastics in Brick Knoll Park in Ashley Road at around 7am.

A blaze had broken out in the reception area but the manager had acted quickly to put out the flames with a foam extinguisher and a fire blanket.

However as smoke had spread into the remainder of the ground floor and the first floor, firefighters went in wearing breathing apparatus to clear the air using fans.

The reception area was left with fire and heat damage while the first floor and the ground floor suffered some smoke damage. Fire crews left the scene within 45 minutes.
