A man died yesterday (Monday) after being struck by a train at Harpenden station, with emergency services and the British Transport Police (BTP) attending the fatality.
In a statement, the force said that police were alerted just after 4.45pm to the station.
It added: “Officers are on scene alongside local ambulance [services] however a person has sadly been pronounced dead.
“We are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
In a further statement today (13), a spokeswoman for the BTP said that the man who died was 48 years old and is from St Albans district.
However she could not release any further details at this stage.
Thameslink services were delayed between London St Pancras International and Luton last night, to allow emergency services to deal with the fatality at Harpenden.
