Fashion show to raise money for Harpenden child amputee charity
PUBLISHED: 10:40 24 September 2018
Models will strut their stuff down the catwalk in beautiful clothes at a charity event in Harpenden.
Everyone is invited to see outfits from Captain Tortue, evening wear from Forever Cinderella, sports clothes from SJR, and accessories from Stella & Dot at the fashion show at Rothamsted Research.
There will also be a raffle, stalls, canapes, and refreshments throughout the evening.
The event has been organised by Sophie Beddow and Ali Suss-Franksen in aid of two charities, The Angus Lawson Memorial Trust and Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope - which was set up by Harpenden mum Sarah Hope after a horrific accident.
She was walking by London’s Mortlake Station in 2007 with her daughter, then two-year-old Pollyanna, and her mother, Elizabeth, when a bus mounted the pavement and smashed into them.
Pollyanna lost her leg, Sarah was seriously injured, and Elizabeth was killed.
Named in tribute to Elizabeth, the charity provides vital support for children who have lost limbs through war, accidents, or lack of medical care.
Proceeds from the fashion show will specifically help young Liberian amputees.
Sarah encouraged everyone to attend: “It is going to be really lively at the fashion show, it will be really bright and cheerful and there will be things you can buy as early Christmas presents - knowing that with our charity, you are helping children with prosthetic limbs who are desperate.
“It will be a really fun night.”
Sarah has won the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Special Recognition award in 2017 for successfully lobbying for running blades to be made available to more child amputee victims.
She has also won the Point of Light award in 2015 and the Herts Ad Community Awards Parent in a Million accolade in 2016.
Pollyanna recently bagged the Role Model of the Year at the Herts Ad Community Awards 2018.
