Children at a primary school got a surprise visit from farmyard animals.

The Bernards Heath Infant and Nursery School children were treated to the event as part of a summer picnic afternoon on Friday, June 30.

A variety of farm animals were involved, including the always popular micro pigs, goats and Goper the very friendly Labrador.

The children at the St Albans school were also allowed to feed and stroke sheep, piglets, pigs, ducks, chickens, a donkey, goats and of course, Goper the very friendly Labrador.

Headteacher Hannah Rimmer said: “Having the farm set up on the school field was very exciting for the children.

“It was wonderful to see them interact with the animals and they relished the opportunity of having them on their school field.

“It’s not every day you look out of your classroom and see a donkey.”
