FOOTBALL fans can now test their knowledge against other fans online after the launch of the first internet football trivia game.

Serious Football Trivia was devised by St Albans company Cloudcity, based in Hatfield Road.

Players must choose a team and a league to compete in, and then go head to head with other gamers in 'fixtures' by answering football trivia questions.

The player who answers a question correctly gets more points than an opponent who does not give the right answer. However, if both players answer correctly, the player who has staked more money on the fixture will get more points.

And at the end of the season the winnings are divided between the top three teams in each league.

Promotions manager Matt Bower explained that players could try out the game for free using tokens, and if they decided they wanted to play for money; they simply had to sign up.

He said the game mechanic was flexible, and in the future the company would be releasing other trivia topics using the same platform.
