FIREFIGHTERS were called to an unusually high number of vehicle fires this weekend. But out of the five reported incidents, three were false alarms and the other two are suspected arson.
The first false alarm was at 9.30pm on Saturday when firefighters were called to Repton Green in St Albans where a van fire was said to be due to an electrical fault.
There was another false alarm after the team answered a call to a motorway section on Sunday.
The other false alarm was in the early hours of Sunday morning when firefighters were called to Watford Road with reports of a car well alight near a petrol station.
The first of the arson incidents was at Valley Road Industrial Estate on Saturday night, when one crew tackle a van in flames. The second was a motorbike fire on Sunday afternoon at Toulmin Drive, St. Albans.
