Wheathampstead Road was blocked by the fallen tree

A HARPENDEN road has been left blocked after strong winds blew down a tree this morning (Friday).

Herts Highways were called to Wheathampstead Road at 10.30am to make sure the area was safe and that the tree was not likely to move.

The road was closed off by police between Long Buftlers and Meadway and traffic in the area is still being diverted.

A tree surgeon has been called to help remove the tree.
