Fall in visits to St Albans tourism website

Visits to a website advertising what to do in St Albans have fallen year on year, according to a district council report.

Fewer people are using www.enjoystalbans.com to find out what to do, where to stay and where to eat in the city. There were 30,529 visits to the website in May 2016 and only 23,555 in May 2017.

Visits to the ‘where to stay’ and ‘eating and drinking’ sections continue to fall significantly, as they are now covered by specialist websites such as Airbnb and Trip Advisor.

There has, however, been an increase in visits to the visitor information centre from the same month last year.

The council’s culture and heritage team will continue to monitor visitor figures and public feedback, as well as reviewing the website and visitor centre to ensure they continue to provide a useful service for visitors.

The visitor figures for June will be published on Monday, July 17.
