ACCLAIMED crime novel writer Lindsey Davis will be talking about her latest book Alexandria at St Albans Town Hall next Thursday, February 26.

Set in Roman times, it features her detective character Marcus Didius Falco and his investigation into a mysterious death at the Great Library of Alexandria.

The investigation brings him into conflict with the darker side of academic life and could even implicate his own relatives.

Lindsey's Falco novels have a large following and have won her a number of awards. Alexandria is the 19th novel featuring Falco who made his first appearance in The Silver Pigs in 1989.

He was recently voted second sexiest fictional character after Rhett Butler in a poll by Radio Four's Woman's Hour.

Lindsey's visit has been organised by Herts Library Service in association with STARTS, St Albans Arts, which runs the Town Hall. It is part of the 2008/9 Year of Reading celebrations.

The talk will begin at 7pm and tickets are £3, available from St Albans Library in advance or on the door.
