Police are warning everyone to be vigilant of a scam reported in St Albans and across the county.
Fake charity collectors posted at train stations and in the streets have been asking passers by for money to support a completely made up boxing club so they can pocket the profits.
The young men have been seen in St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Watford, and Berkhamsted.
Herts police believe they are deliberating targeting elderly and vulnerable people.
Officers have contacted members of the district’s neighbourhood watch to spread the word about this newly emerging con.
Anyone with information should contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
