A unit of Explorer Scouts has helped St Albans homeless charity Emmaus with their Winter Annual Rucksack Project.

On Thursday, November 9, scouts assisted with the project, which provides winter essentials to help rough sleepers through the cold season.

Assistant leader Anne-Laure Crouy said: “It was a busy, instructive, generous night for all of those who participated.”

Emmaus has been collecting brushes, soap, food, hats, gloves, blankets, and rucksacks to hand out to homeless people.

The scouts helped pack 75 rucksacks containing all the items Emmaus had gathered.

The rucksacks will be hand delivered to vulnerable people living on the streets on Thursday.

A number of local charities are gearing up for winter, including Open Door homeless shelter, who have partnered with city centre churches to provide a greater number of beds.
