As part of the Hatfield and St Albans railway/Alban Way anniversary celebrations, several events are planned.
On Friday, there will be a guided walk along the Alban Way exploring its social, natural and railway history plus an evening presentation at the University of Hertfordshire. More details available at www.smallford.org
Sunday will see social events along the Alban Way at St Albans London Road (old railway station), Highfield Garden of Rest (near Hill End old railway station), Smallford (old railway station) and Ellenbrook (old Nast Hyde Halt). More details available at www.smallford.org
A reprint of the original 1992 map of the Alban Way will be available at the Great Northern pub to mark its reopening in 1985 as a shared cycle/pedestrian path between the two towns.
