The incident happened in Holywell Hill, St Albans, at around 10.30am on Monday when the man, in his 30s and from Richmond, was involved in the accident with a BMW car.
A police spokesperson said the car driver, a man from St Albans, only struck the injured pedestrian very lightly because he had managed to slow down considerably.

Police closed the road for a short time until the injured man was taken away in the ambulance.
