Thousands of people are expected to take part in the St Albans cathedral Carols on the Hour services this Saturday.
First introduced to cope with the huge demand for carol services during the Christmas period, Carols on the Hour is an all day-event attended by families, shoppers and visitors.
There are six 30-minute services, running from 11am to 4pm, and they feature various local and Cathedral choirs.
Richard Watson, Sub Dean at St Albans Cathedral, said: “Last year we welcomed over 5,000 people over the six services of the day, many of whom also came to enjoy the Christmas Market in the grounds of the cathedral and to soak up the festive atmosphere.
“It’s great that so many people find a visit to St Albans cathedral helps make their Christmas special.”
A familiar sight at the services is the metre-high nativity scene, dubbed Knitivity, which has been hand-knitted over 350 hours by Ann Hudson.
The services are free and no tickets are required. Refreshments will be available.
