An 82-year-old woman was taken to hospital after her car collided with a parked vehicle on a busy stretch of road in Harpenden, causing travel chaos yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

A spokeswoman for Herts Police confirmed that officers were called to Carlton Road, close to the junction with Stewart Road, at about 1.50pm after a blue Volkswagen Polo hit a parked black Ford Mondeo.

No one was in the parked vehicle but the 82-year-old driver of the Polo was taken to hospital.
