The bench has been installed at Skyswood Primary and Nursery School as part of an initiative to combat loneliness, foster friendships and improve children’s confidence. It is made from recycled materials and painted in bright colours.

Headteacher Bob Bridle said: “The new Buddy Bench is a very welcome addition to our school. Social and emotional development has a high priority at Skyswood and sometimes children just need a quiet place to have a little time out. We are very grateful to Wickes for providing us with the bench.”

The bench was unveiled by Wickes store manager Phil Palmer. He said: “We’re delighted to support the community with this initiative, which will ensure that children at Skyswood Primary and Nursery School can now have a unique place to make new friendships.”
