Sticking to the speed limit for St Albans primary school's panto

HALLO, hallo, hallo - what's all this then?
Cinderella’s journey to the ball at a St Albans primary school was almost cut short when her speeding footmen caught the eye of the local constabulary.
But the intervention of the long arm of the law proved to be no more than part of a special recording to be shown at performances of Cinderella at Killigrew Primary School where parents and staff put on their annual post-Christmas pantomime next week.
The aim, using the wonders of modern technology, is to help move the plot along and fill in the gaps for those who have often wondered what Cinderella’s journey to the ball was like.
Killigrew Drama Society (KiDS) is putting on the pantomime from next Thursday, January 13, to Saturday, January 15.
Show director, Barbara Magrath, said: “This year’s KiDS’ production of Cinderella has involved a team and cast of 35 people who have been working together since last September to make the show happen.
“We have a unique set-up at Killigrew School which has evolved since the group was first formed in 1978.
“It never ceases to amaze me that not only are current parents and staff willing to give up so much time to do the shows but that former pupils and parents of former pupils continue to come back year after year to work so hard for the benefit of the schools. It is a true community project.”
Over the years KiDS has raised thousands of pounds that have been donated to the school. The staging and lighting equipment is also used for Killigrew School shows at Christmas and in the summer.
Among the school projects which have benefited from KiDS include new ICT equipment, digital cameras for every classroom and new chairs and staging.
Tickets for Cinderella are now on sale at 01727 758866 or 873427 or visit the new KiDS website at http:kids.chiswellgreen.net
