ELEVEN students from a St Albans secondary school are helping to make the news on Thursday.

The students from Sandringham School on The Ridgeway were taking part in BBC News School Report, a project to engage 11 to 14 year olds in news broadcasting.

They joined up with around 800 schools in the UK taking part in the project.

Over the past few months students in Years 7 to 9 at Sandringham have been training to be journalists, carrying out interviews and producing reports.

Head of media studies Leanne Samuels told the Herts Advertiser: “The students have worked really hard and come up with some great stories.

She added: “This is a fantastic opportunity that allows them to become real-life news reporters.”
