A TALENTED local schoolgirl has won scholarship to the Royal Geographical Society (RGS).
Rowan Blackmore, a Year 13 pupil at St Albans Girls School, has demonstrated an innate passion for geography and her teachers nominated her for the scheme. She then had to pass a tough application and interview process to gain her scholarship.
The scheme supports young geographers, enabling them to gain meaningful learning experiences such as cultural exchanges, teaching, conservation and environmental work during their gap years before they study geography at university.
On their return the students support fellow young geographers in their role as RGS ambassadors and Rowan will be meeting the other successful scholars from around the country when she is a guest at an event next month.
