Sandringham School is holding a summer music festival called Sandfest, where students, parents, staff and alumni will be celebrating the landmark birthday together.

There will be live music, food, a bar, an F1 simulator, an inflatable wipeout sweeper and traditional coconut shy, skittles and a tombola.

Performers include bands such as The Beatniks, Princes to Kings, Grace George, Kasper and the Swamp Dogs, Henry Nurse, Written in Ink, and dance groups from the school.

Headteacher Alan Grey said: “Sandfest is the final event of our anniversary year and we hope to see lots of students, families and staff, past and present, as well as members of the local community there.

“This will be a fantastic way to mark the end of the academic year and the achievements of the school over the last 30 years.

“We are planning lots of new exciting developments for the school which will contribute to the next 30 years of history.”

He has been headteacher of the school for 13 years.

Sandringham was set up in 1988 with fewer than 700 pupils - now there are more than 1,300 and it has been rated outstanding by Ofsted.

Chair of the organiser Friends of Sandringham School, Alison Williams, said: “We will have an art exhibition tent showing some of the student’s fantastic art work and craft activities to try and there will be memorabilia on display showing Sandringham over the years.

“I would like to thank our sponsors, Frosts, and the companies who have given generous donations: Capgemini and Tesco Express plus many more who have donated prizes.

“We wanted to make it a free community event to celebrate the last 30 years and look forward to a successful future.”

Sandfest takes place on July 14, from 3pm till 9pm. Entrance is free at the school on The Ridgeway.
