Parents and teachers from a St Albans primary school walked 26 miles from London St Pancras to raise money for the PTA.
Six teachers from Maple School, including headteacher Mr Bowen, and 20 parents, took part in the ‘Maple Marathon and Dash for Cash’ on Saturday, May 19.
The group walked from the British Library near the station all the way back to the school, with four people running for the entire route.
A small group of children and parents also cycled in a half-marathon along the Alban Way, and 120 pupils took part in a 3km treasure trail around St Albans. Both the marathan and treasure trail were organised by parents Emily and Mark Kennedy.
Everyone arrived back at the school in the afternoon for a Royal Summer Party, with a bouncy castle, a barbecue and afternoon tea.
The PTA raised more than £7,000 on the day, which will go towards a new outdoor gym at the school.
