A school in St Albans held a ball for past and present staff and parents to celebrate its 80th birthday.
The summer ‘twine and dine’ ball was held in the school grounds in Oakwood Drive on Saturday, July 14. Among the attendees was actress Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter on Eastenders and has also appeared on The Archers and Strictly Come Dancing. She gave a speech about the importance of performing arts in education, and donated a prize for the auction, which was held to raise money for a new school hall and performing arts space.
The auction raised around £3,500, and prizes included a tour of the BBC news studio with presenter Martine Coxall, tickets and a backstage tour of Mamma Mia the musical, a private chef experience at Thompson’s, weekend tickets to the Standon Calling festival and more.
The Beaumont School Association (BSA) aims to raise £10 million as part of the ‘80 in 18’ fundraising campaign.
